Homework – What to Expect
Please find below the summary for each year group.
Nursery – Oak 1
- Children are invited to take bedtime books each day to share at home
- Occasionally Marvellous Me challenges are sent to encourage parents to further develop skills we have been working on in Nursery
Reception – Oak 2
- Pupils have a weekly guided reading book which they are encouraged to read daily
- Pupils are also encourage to independently change a bedtime story book with parents at the beginning of the day
- Pupils are sent home a writing pack at Christmas where they are able to practice letter formation, phase 2 and 3 tricky words, number formations and phase 3 sound
Year 1 – Holly 1
Opportunity to rehearse prior learning through:
- Daily reading of at least ten minutes and recorded in the reading record
- Handwriting
- Maths
- Topic
Year 2 – Holly 2
- Weekly spellings are sent home
- Tasks are set on Mathletics
- A reading comprehension or a project based learning task
- Daily reading for at least ten minutes and recorded in the reading record
Year 3 – Willow 1
- Daily reading for at least fifteen minutes and recorded in the reading record
- Mathletics activities linked to current maths learning and rehearsal of their times tables, using Times Table Rockstars
- Spelling, grammar and reading tasks to enhance and embed their learning
- On occasion we ask pupils to research home learning projects
Year 4 – Willow 2
- Daily reading for at least fifteen minutes and recorded in the reading record
- Mathletics activities linked to current topic as well as Times Table Rockstars
- Spelling or grammar activity to consolidate and embed learning covered each week
Year 5 – Maple 1
- Weekly maths including Mathletics and practising on Times Table Rockstars
- Weekly English linked to spelling, reading or grammar taught that week
- Daily reading for fifteen minutes to be recorded in the reading record
- Half termly project based learning linked to the inquiry question
Year 6 – Maple 2
- Daily reading for fifteen minutes and recorded in the reading record
- A task designed to complement or support current curriculum study. The weekly work can be combined in a series of activities which combine to create a project outcome
- Opportunity for children to access Times Table Rockstars or equivalent to learn Times Tables
