Our Nursery day

The Nursery morning is a balance of adult led learning opportunities and children’s choice of play activities.

Adult led activities take advantage of our well resourced school and can take place in the classroom, outdoor learning area, computer suite, music room, library or cooking area.

We assess your child’s progress continuously, keeping written observations, photos and examples of their work in Learning Logs to share and discuss with you. We welcome parental input and provide regular opportunities for you and your child to discuss and comment on their progress.

Our Nursery offers the following:

  • Large, well equipped outdoor area, orchard and field.

What will my child need to wear?

  • white polo shirt
  • purple school sweatshirt
  • black or grey trousers, leggings, jogging bottoms or skirt.

What do we learn?

Our topics are based around the seven areas of learning in the Early Years curriculum.

Nursery hours

9.00 to 12.00 daily Monday to Friday

3 Prime areas:-

  1. Communication, and language
    Developing the confidence to talk to adults and other children and a love of reading and writing
  2. Physical development
    Moving with confidence, using equipment carefully and safely.
  3. Personal, social and emotional development
    Understanding their own needs and feelings and those of others.
4 Specific areas:-

  1. Literacy
    Developing a love of reading and writing.
  2. Mathematics
    Learning to count, recognise numbers and shapes and solve practical problems.
  3. Understanding the world
    Developing a sense of wonder and discovery, observing and asking questions asking questions.
  4. Expressive Arts and Design
    Developing imagination through role play, music, dance, drawing, painting and model making.
